The First Pattern
The First Pattern uses a grid of twelve large symbols in each panel. Three symbols have changed, and the other nine are identical. Unlike the illustrated scenes, these pairs use exact geometry so every marked change has a clear counterpart. Each round includes one colour change, one shape change and one change between a solid fill and an outline.
Try this picture before reading the answersThe 3 marked differences
- Colour change
The circle in row 1, column 1 changes colour between panels.
- Shape change
The circle in row 2, column 2 becomes a square in the right panel.
- Filled and outline
The circle in row 3, column 3 is filled on the left and hollow with a coloured outline on the right.
A useful comparison tip
Count rows from the top and columns from the left within each panel. Compare the same grid position before moving to the next.
These geometric pairs contain exactly the three changes listed above. Rows are counted from the top, and columns from the left of each panel.
